碩士 / 淡江大學 / 資訊工程研究所 / 81 / Navigation systems for Global Positioning System (GPS) have
been studied and developed for many years in many
foreign countries and many commercial GPS products have been
installed in cars, ships, and airplanes. These products,
however,do not have easy-to-use user interface,i.e.,users of
GPS navigation systems must have special knowledge on
longitude and latitude and users are required to enter lots of
input data. In our country, research has just been initiated.
In this article,we will concentrate on the design and
implementation of a GPS navigation system and study their
related theory. The major tasks of this research are:
development of GPS receiver driver and library
routines, design and implementation of graphical user
interfaces (GUI) for a GPS application, and study of spatial
database systems and image data processing. In this article,we
complete the design and implementation of a real-time
navigation system for cars. The basic hardware equipment
includes one notebook computer and one GPS receiver. Also,we
will study the theory in the related areas including path
and range search algorithms and relational database The
design principles for this navigation system are: a)provide
easy-to-use GUI, b)reduce users' input data, c)easy to carry
and install, and d)a popular price. The main purpose of this
article is to provide a total solution for GPS navigation
systems installed in cars. Moreover, experience learned during
the period of developing GPS navigation system can be
used to,in our country, train people who are interested
in developing GPS navigation systems. Finally, related GPS
application development technologies can be transferred to
industry.
