served as navy's commander in chief, Soviet navy has grown
stronger since his leadership. Owing to the closing bond of U.S.
A., Japan and China U.S.S.R. has continued its expansion of
quality and quantity in the Pacific fleet of the Soviet navy
since 1970. Pacific fleet has become the largest one among the
four fleets of Soviet Navy. Soviet objective is accompanied
with that of strategy in Far East. Eventual aim is competing
for the mari- time hegemony with U.S.A. This thesis consists of
seven chapters. First of all, the contents of the thesis
reflect the Russian in the research of Soviet military thinking
and establishment. Then, We survey the development of the
Soviet navy and the expansion of it's Pacific fleet by means of
the historical method of investigation and the view of naval
strategy, and analyze the missions, the strong and weak of this
Pacific fleet. Eventually,the power balance theory is used to
explain the conflict among China, U.S.S.R. and U.S.A. in the
Asia and Pacific area. It is important to note that the
expansion of the Soviet Pacific fleet, will threat the safety
in the Pacific Asia region.
