碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 造船工程學系 / 82 / This paper discuss the crack growth in a swath ship at the
junction of the strut and the main hull, where the stress
concentration is inevitable due to the change of geometry. The
micro-cracks induced by faulty welding will eventually grow
during the operation at sea.The wave loading conditions are
calculated according to the linear strip therom. The pos-
sibility distribution of different sea conditions is predic-
ited according to literature survey. With MSC/NASTRAN finite
element software, the stresses in interest are calculated and
the growth of crack can be simulated according to three dif-
ferent models, namely,Paris Law,Wheeler's Model and Crack Cl-
osure Model. The different materials are also considered in
calculation.Based on the simulation, crack growth predicted by
the Paris Law is the most conservative.the Wheeler's Model,
which considers the effect of overload retardation, and the
Crack Closure Model have the similar results.
