engineering and finite element analysis softwares are for the
improvement of the efficiency of ship design.Since the
structure detail can be constructed by BMT,it is advantangeous
to use the BMT's database to construct the 3-D finite element
mesh needed for other computer aided engineering softwares.(
such as :PATRAN、BANSYS、 etc.) If so ,lot of time will be
saved for the static and dynamic structure analysis of the
whole ship.A 3-D model of a 1200 TEU container ship was built
and the structure analysis done to prove the usability of this
procedure. Several computer aided ship design softwares are
available for design of the hull form,BMT is a famous one among
those softwares and is being used by shipbuilding companies.
The curve fairing technique used by BMT is based on cubic B-
spline curve.In this project,we will introduce the theorem of
cubic B-spline and its applications.In addition ,the
consistency and accuracy of data exchange between BMT and other
computer aided engineering softwares will be studied.
