碩士 / 國立臺灣大學 / 植物病蟲害學系 / 82 / In this study, 382 relating-specimens have been examined
together with paper-work on the Melolonthina references of
Taiwan for last 76 years. Up to date, 7 genera and 15 species
are actually recorded to Taiwan fauna, they include two new
specie, Melolontha formosana sp. nov., Polyphylla dahnshuensis
sp. nov., two new combinations, Hoplosternus frater taiwana (
Nomura), H. wushana (Nomura), and one re-confirmed species,
Exolontha serrulata (Gyllenhal), respectively. Also, a neotype
is designated for Polyphylla taiwana (Sawada), and those of two
species, Exolontha umbraculata (Burmeister) and Schoenheria
argus (Burmeister) are probably refered to the "Shiraki''s
collections" which are excluded from this work. A key to the
genera of Melolonthina of Taiwan, as well as to the species are
presented with taxonomic status and history, morphological
descriptions, adult''s periods, specimens recorded and examined,
and their distributions. Phylogenetic hypothesis(based on clad-
istic methodology) for the genera of Taiwan Melolonthina are
performed to re-examined these taxonomic system which are nor-
mally applied today.
