Fishery Biology of the Tile Fish Branchiostegus Japonicus Japonicus in the Guei Shan Island Waters, Taiwan / 臺灣龜山鳥附近海域日本馬頭魚之漁業生物學研究

碩士 / 國立海洋大學 / 漁業科學研究所 / 83 / The tile fish Branchiostegus japonicus janonicus caught in Guei Shan Island waters were used to study their age and growth, and reproduction in this study. A total up 417 speciemens were collected in Tashi fish market from December 1993 to November 1994 monthly. The age determination was done by otolith annuli reading. The relationship between total length (TL) and the otolith radius (R) were as follows, female:TL=40.12+49.7OR; male TL=35.00+54.87R. From the monthly changes of the marginal increment of the otolith, we found that the opaque zone was formed once a year between January and February.Of all the samples, the most stolith ring count was six on both sexes. The relationshiops between body weight(W) and total length for both sexes were estimatied in non-linear lunction: femaie: W = 4.674x10-3 TL3.249, male: W = 5.9376 x 10-3 TL3.1693. The parameters of von Bertalanffy growth equatonos are L∞425.36, K = 0.195, t0 = -0.817 for female and L∞ = 471.18, K = 0.186, t0 = 0.831for male, respectively. The estimated theoretical asymptotic length of. B japonicus japonicus in this study was longer than that in East China sea and Cheju Island; while the growth coefficient (growth rate) in this study was smaller . Owing to this fact that the growth rate was amaller than East China sea and Cheju Island, the weight at the asme annuli was also amaller than if the other two waters. The mongtly changes in gonadal index indicate that the spawning period was from May to November and the noticeable peak of spawning appears twice a year in May to June and September to October. The changes in condition indices and gonadal indices of female werch similiar, while indicated that spawning behavior influence condition indices. The empty stomach rate was affected by spawning behavior, and could be an anotherindicator of determining spawning period. The sex ratio of total specimens is about 1:1 and it decreases as the increase of the body length.
