碩士 / 國立臺灣大學 / 生化科學研究所 / 83 / αB-crystallin,shown to be a member of the small heat-shock
protein( sHSP )family,is synthesized at various developmental
stages, especially in response to stress and in a number of
pathological states.
Clonging and Northern analysis show unambiguously that
αB-crystallin mRNA is present in some mature tissues of the
walking catfish(Clarias batrachus),although there are some
differences in the transcription pattern.
Interestingly, sequence analysis has shown that walking catfish αB-crystallin exists as a shortened gene both in cDNA and genomic structure despite its being similar to sHSP as other
mammalian αB-crystallins.
We have prepared anti-walking catfishαB and αA antiserum, and use them for Western-blot analysis of α-crystallin from various species to study the immunological specificity and relationship.
In this study,we have found some differences in the chaperone activity of walking catfish and porcine α-crystallins,which may reflect the structural differences as revealed by the shortened primary sequence in the walking catfish as compared to mammalian αB-crystallins.
