The Optimal Model for Transportation Cost and Shortage Penalty in Logistics System / 物流中心運輸成本及短缺罰金之最佳化模式

碩士 / 國立雲林科技大學 / 工業工程與管理研究所 / 83 / The inventory problem of a logistics system different from that
of a warehouse in a manufacturing factory because of the expens-
ive transportation cost associated with the frequent delivering
to retail store. The transportation cost of a logistics system
is usually treated as results from vehicle problem. Vehicle
routing problem must assume the capacity of vehicle can suffice
order of all retails stores.Realistically, there is also shortage
penalty occurred for insufficient delivery. This research
developed a model of assigning vehicle in a logistics system to
optimize total cost containing transportation cost and shortage
penalty .
Logistics system must decide which vehicle to send goods to ret-
ail stores, and let total cost optimize in the vehicle routing
planning with penalty. Basing on saving approach which is a
well known heuristic solution for vehicle routing problem, this
research developed a modified saving approach. These two heurist-
ics were compared to a constrained optimal solution, and results
showed the modified heuristics has the best performance when the
ratio of transportation cost and the ration of shortage penalty
are equal,or the ratio of shortage penalty higher than the ratio
of transportation cost. The constrained optimal solution has the
best performance when the ratio of shortage penalty is lower
than the ratio of transportation cost.
