Experimental Studies on the Scour Depth at Toes of Seawalls by Short-Crested Waves / 短峰波作用下海堤堤趾沖刷之試驗研究

碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 水利及海洋工程學系 / 84 / This paper is aimed to study the relationships between scour
depth and theseawall''s face slope under the action of short-
crested wave.In this study var-ied face slopes of seawalls were
modelled.Wave conditions with various wave p-eriods and heights
were generated for different water depths. The results show-ed
that the scour depth in 3 dimensional tests is deeper than that
in 2 dimen-sional tests. This difference is contributed mainly by
the short-crested wave, which results a scour depth much higher
than the 2 dimensional tests. It was also found
that the scour depth has a poor relation with the surf
parameter,wave steepness,reflection cofficient,relative depth,
but has a closerrelation with the Ursell parameter.
In nondimensional expression, the scour depth depends highly on
the face sl-ope of the seawall as well as the Ursell parameter.
In general, the scour depth increases as this two parameters
increase. But,note that the scour depth at seawall with face
slope of tanθ=1/4 is conspicuously less than that with tan
θ=1/2 or 1/3,but only slightly more than that with face slope
of tanθ=1/7. Since the profile and the base of seawall
with tanθ=1/4 is much larger than that with tanθ=1/7,the
face slope of tanθ=1/4 is suggested as the opt-imum one if an
economic reason is taken into consideration. This conclusion
issimilar to that obtained in 2 dimensional tests〔Twu and
chiou,1994〕.
