碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 海洋資源學系 / 84 / The goal of this study is to understand the seasonal changes of
population dynamics as well as spatial and temporal
distribution of a commercially fishery species Acetes
intermedius (Omori 1975) in the southwestern Taiwan. To
investigate the population dynamics, a shrimp- hang net (mesh
size = 3 mm) was employed to sample shrimps within the
Kaohsiung harbor from November 1993 to November 1994. We also
investigated the diel vertical distribution of this specie by
sampling shrimps at different depths throughout a day using a
fish-larvae net (mesh size = 0.33 mm) towing horizontally in
the coastal waters off Tungkang in October and November, 1994
and in July, 1995 and within Kaohsiung harbor in May, 1995.
Based on the serial histological sections, the maturation
processes of ovary is homogenous throughout the ovary. The
development of ovary can be divided into five stages :
undeveloped stage, developing stage, early ripe stage, ripe
stage and spent stage. A. intermedius might be able to
reproduce all year round within the Kaohsiung harbor. The
fecundity estimated from the regression of prawn size and
number of eggs per female is 1200 eggs (Fecundity = 823.9 ×
Carapace length － 3251.6; n=9 , r=0.767, p<0.05). The
carapace length at first sexual maturity of female is around
3.99 mm. The monthly changes of size distribution is similar
between sexes, however, the averaged carapace length of female
(Mean= 5.11±0.87 mm, n =1986) is larger than that of male
(Mean = 4.31± 0.56 mm, n =1884). Estimated from modal
progress, the averaged growth rate of female is about 0.6 mm/
month, however, growth rate of male is difficult to estimate
because of its less obvious growth line. The seasonal changes
of sex ratio varied from 0.27 to 0.86.
