Mechanism of Liuchieuyu Mud Volcano evolution and seismic interpretation in this area / 琉球嶼海底泥火山之成因與震測解釋之研究

碩士 / 國立海洋大學 / 應用地球物理研究所 / 84 / UNIBOOM、3.5kHz and seismic reflection profiles reveal Kaoping
paleochannel had eroded Liuchieuyu Mud Volcano. It suggests that
Liuchieuyu Mud Volcano may be triggered by erosion of Kaoping
Paleochannel. When Kaoping Paleochannel eroded sediments
overlain on Liuchieuyu Mud diapir, the overpressured layer
caused by methane gas from Liuchieuyu Mud diapir may extrude and
form Liuchieuyu Mud Volcano. After extruding of Liuchieuyu Mud
Volcano from Kaoping paleochannel, it blocked Kaoping
paleochannel and changed its trend. Therefore, we can see
Kaoping Canyon evolved from Kaoping paleochannel has a bend near
Liuchieuyu.Because of the trend of erosion by paleochannel and
trend of NE-SW Central Gully of Liuchieuyu are same, the NE-SW
Central Gully of Liuchieuyu may be influenced by paleochannel.
During uplift of Liuchieuyu Mud Volcano, the force of swell made
reef lives on Liuchieuyu Mud Volcano arched and then broke along
the trend of erosion.Mud diapirs and mud volcanos in southwest
Taiwan have different types and mechanisms from Liuchieuyu Mud
Volcano. They can be classified as mud diapirs of type {= 1 \*
ROMAN|I}、{= 2 \* ROMAN|II}、{= 3 \* ROMAN|III} and mud volcanos
of type A、B、C、D. Liuchieuyu Mud Volcano is belong to type B
mud volcanos.Type {= 1 \* ROMAN|I} mud diapirs were triggered by
different loading between sediments on syncline and anticline by
the Pengli orogenic movement after the Pliocene time. They are
distrbuted in shollow-water environments(<700m).Type {= 2 \*
ROMAN|II} mud diapirs were induced by different loading between
sediments in shollow-water and deep-water(>700m) environments.
They are distrbuted in deep-water(>700m) environments.Type {= 3
\* ROMAN|III} mud diapirs were caused by different loading and
push forces of prograding clastic overburden. They are distrbuted
in north Kaoping Shelf.Type A mud volcanos were formed by
erosion of Gullies and Canyons. Gullies and Canyons eroded gas
hydrates overlain on type {= 2 \* ROMAN|II} mud diapirs may make
overpressured layer of type {= 2 \* ROMAN|II} mud diapirs
extrude and form type A mud volcanos. They are distrbuted along
gullies or canyons in deep-water(>700m) environments.Type B mud
volcanos as Liuchieuyu Mud Volcano may be triggered by erosion
of channels、gullies or canyons. Channels、Gullies and Canyons
cut and eroded sediments overlain on type {= 1 \* ROMAN|I} mud
diapirs may make the overpressured layer of type {= 1 \*
ROMAN|I} mud diapirs extrude and form type B mud volcanos. They
are distrbuted along gullies or canyons in shollow-water(<700m)
environments.Type C mud volcanos are smaller than mud volcanos
of types A、B.They may be formed by the overpressured layer of
from mud diapirs extrude fracture zone in canyon. They are
distrbuted along gulleies or canyons in shollow-water(<700m)
environments.Type D mud volcanos as small as type C mud volcanos
may be effected by faults. The overpressured layer of mud diapirs
may extrude along faults existed or formed later. They may be
widespreadly distrbuted in this area.
