Transport of Contaminant and Bottom Mud in Coastal Area / 河口底泥與污染物傳輸之模擬研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣大學 / 土木工程研究所 / 84 / Tidal affected river has strong variation in flow condition,
topography and chemical composition. Cohesive sediment settles
rapidly around the salt wedge. Sediment can adsorb contaminent
through adsorption. This research is to study the transport of
contaminent through the interaction of contaminent and sediment
coagulant. Width-averaged vertical two dimensional water
quality model is developed for heavy metal, DO, salinity,
sediment etc. The model is applied to simulate the coastal area
in Tanshui river by using body fitted coordinate and
curvilinear coordinate systems to generate grids and to reflect
the irregularities of the boundaries. We found that the self
cleaning ability in this 10Km river month reach is extra-
ordinarily good due to the coagulation of sediment triggered by
salt wedge. As coagulant settles, contaminants is adsorpted and
removed from the water column. Settled sediment can accumulate
around the salt wedge where flow velocity is small. As salt
wedge moves away, flow velocity as well as interface friction
increases so the accumulated mud again becomes the bed load.
