Systematic and phylogenetic studies on the Apogonidae by using morphology and 12S rRNA sequence of mtDNA / 利用形態及粒線體去氧核醣核酸的12SrRNA序列探討天竺鯛科魚類分類與類緣關係

albomarginatus, and one questioned species A. bandanensis
are newly added. Totally, there are 2 subfamilies, 13 genera
and 77 species of Apogonidae recorded in Taiwan. In the
present paper, the references of apogonids in Taiwan are
revised, a diagnostic key and four photos of newly added
species are provided. Thus, the present studies is attempting
to study their intergeneric and interspecific phylogenies
by using molecular technique of mtDNA sequencing. A total
number of 2 subfamiles, 13 genera, 44 species and 133
specimen were used in this study. We used PCR and dsDNA
sequencing methods to obtain 12S rRNA sequencing data
(933-961 bps). The studies support that Pseudaminae is a
valid subfamily as the same as the result obtained by
Fraser (1972) using osteologically characters. Siphamia
different from other genera, the dissimilarity value was
between 21.12%-31.86%. Thus, the present studies support
Smith (1961) to elect this genus into one independant
subfamily, Siphamiinae. The genus role of Cheilodipterus
should be kept. The dissimilarity value between Apogon
fleurier and A. aureus are 4.22-4.44%, which suggest that
there are two different species. To sum the results obtained
from the phylogeny trees of this studies, the following
conclusions could be get: (1) Foa abocellata replace to genus
Fowleria. (2) Apogon is a polyphyletic groups;the subgenus
Pristapgon of Apogon is a polyphyletic groups, which
obviously different from other apogonids, and the two species
of Pristapgon: A. fraenatus and A. exostigma are formed a
monophyletic groups. (3) The genotype of Jadydia-like was
remarkably differ from other genera, so its independant genus
level should be recovered. (4) The morphology between A.
fleurieu and A. aureus are very similar, the molecular data has
sufficient to support that they are two valid species.
