碩士 / 國立臺灣科技大學 / 機械工程研究所 / 84 / The main purpose of this thesis is to explore and establish the
key technologies required for a modern automobile navigation
and route guidance system. Using the vehicle position
coordinates obtained from existing positioning sensors and
processing units, and combining with proper database and soft-
ware algorithm designs, a vehicle navigation and guidance
system can be established. In this thesis we emphasize the
design, development and implementations these software
functions, including the navigation database, route planning
algorithms, map-matching algorithms, and real-time route
guidance design. An address oriented road database that fulfill
the navigation and guidance requirements is first developed.
Route planning algorithms based on unidirectional and bi-
directional search techniques and then studied and implemented.
A map-matching algorithm base on candidate selection/
elimination idea is also developed. A fast database search
method that based on space segmentation is also designed to
speed up the database retrieval process. Finally, we have also
considered the design of route guidance algorithm. A prototype
navigation and guidance system is developed on IBM PC using MS
Windows 3.1 to test the algorithms designed. Navigate and
guidance functions such as real time map display, road name
search, address search, optimal route generation, and map-
matching are implemented on the system for Ta-An district of
Taipei city.
