Providence University ABSTRACT With the extension of
trade activities between both sides of Taiwan strait, it
becomes an earnest hope for allowing financial contacts and
letting fi- nancial institutions go for Mainland China to set
up branches. The aim of this study is trying to use
quantitative method and from views of Taiwanese businessmen to
investigate "invest environment in Shanghai district",
"financial contact condition", "contact intention and demand for
Taiwanese bank". Hopefully the results of this study can
provide the banking business in Taiwan as a valuable reference
for setting up branches in Mainland China. Taiwanese
businessmen are more satisfied with local market in shanghai
business environment and it would be getting a bigger demand
renminbi for business transaction. As the finding of this
study,Taiwanese bueinessmen have high demand for renminbi, the
banking industry might make an effort to strive for the
renminbi related business. And it would be better for banks to
absorb local funds and to save fund costs. Taiwanese businessmen
are not satisfied with current local banks and foreign banks in
Shanghai. While chossing a bank, they pay much attention to
better service with more convenience in transaction and with
more branches around the world. So the banking business should
reinforce its service quality that the customers would be
willing to contact with them and thus can compete with other
foreign banks in the Mainland. Also from the finding of this
study, the financial service requirements of Taiwanese
businessmen, could be taken as references in staff training and
assignments as well as in planning financial products.
