Canoe Slalom / 輕艇激流標桿運動

碩士 / 國立體育學院 / 運動教練研究所 / 85 / Canoe slalom is an official Olympic event which appeared in 1972, 1992 and 1996. It is a worldwide sport full of challenge, exciting, joy, but it is not popular in Taiwan until several years ago. The history of this sport in Taiwan is not long. However, it sprayed out quickly when the Chinese Taipei Canoe Association and canoe participants devoted to the development of the sport during these years. Canoe slalom requires good physical resource and technique under whitewater simultaneously, so competitors must have a good physical ability in order to overcome the course, and it is how attractive the sport is. With the inclination of this sport, canoe slalom becomes more and more popular.
  The geographic environment here is nice, there are many whitewater rivers fitted to the development of canoeing. Canoe slalom is also a new sport event in Asia area. It means if our country can provide a good training program and keep on training, it might be another event we can get good grades in Asia championship or Asia Games in the future. To make the sport more prevalent here, a good textbook is essential in the early stage of its development. Therefore, the author decided to write this book.
  The book was divided into seven chapters, each chapter is described as following.
  Chapter 1 "Introduction" introduces important rules, history, development in each country, competition in Olympic Games, and current state and future of canoe slalom in Taiwan.
  Chapter 2 "Basics of Canoeing" introduces skills of read water, common sense for equipment, courses, facilities, safety and first aids.
  Chapter 3 "Techniques and Tactics of Canoe Slalom" introduces basic strokes, techniques under whitewater, gate techniques, competition tactics and so on.
  Chapter 4 "Training of Canoe Slalom" introduces the necessity of training, training theory and training methods of physical, mental and technical for slalom athlete. Fatigue recovery, warm-up, cool-down, specific training for youth or female athletes are included in this chapter, too.
  Chapter 5 "Setting, Arranging and Executing of Training and Competition Schedule" includes principle, content, evaluation of training program and preparation for competition.
  Chapter 6 "Sports Science in Canoe Slalom" describes the importance and related research of talent exploration, physiology, psychology, biomechanics, medicine and nutrition in this sport.
  The last chapter, chapter 7 "Guideline of Coach" describes the duty, responsibility and attitude of a good canoe slalom coach. It's very important in coach career.
