碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 海洋生物學系 / 85 / A phylogenetic hypothesis of analysis was proposed based on the cladistic and osteological studies of five Bathygobius. Specimens were collected at 7 localities in Taiwan. Ten osteological characters including the vomer, lateral ethmoid, maxilla, dentary, basihyal, sixth pterygiophores of spinous dorsal fin, posttemporal, hyomandibular and pelvic bone were described. Outgroup species include Eleotris acanyhopomus and Rhyacichthys aspro. Osteological evidence can only support the species states of B. cyclopterus. B. cocosensis is the plesiornorphic sister species of a monophyletic groups company B. fuscus, B. padangensis, B. cyclopterus and B. cotticeps. Within the latter group, B. fuscus-B. padangensis and B. cyclopterus-B. cotticc.p constitute two separate monophyletic groups.
