碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 海洋環境工程研究所 / 85 / This study investigates the chlorobenzenes concentrations in the sediments along the Kaohsiung coast in Taiwan. Results show that the main source of HCBD (hexachloro-butadiene) is Tso-yin outfall field. In addition to the Chun-chou and Da-hn-pu outfall fields, Kao-ping and Don-kung rivers are major source of hexachlorobenzene. It is observed that the average concentrations of hexachlorobenzene in Chun-chou outfall field are greater than those in Tso-yin and Da-lm-pu. Chlorination of wastewater in Chun-chou outfall system might be the cause for this finding.
The sediment concentration of chlorobenzenes in Da-lin-pu outfall field is found reversely correlated with the particle size of sediment; meanwhile, no such correlation is observed in Tso-yin and Chun-chou outfall fields. Notably, the concentrations of chlorobenzenes in sediments along Kaohsiung coast are much higher than those found in lse Bay, Japan. This indicates that pollution of chlorobenzenes in Kaohsiung coast is quite serious.
