In recent years, modern frigates had been built aggressively
by Chinese Navy to substitute battle ships serviced in the
navy for a long time. It is important to evaluate the blast
effects of variety types of weapon systems equipped on the
ships upon the decks, bulkheads, persons, and equipments.
This study employs ABAQUS finite element techniques to calculate
the blast effects of 40mm/L70 gun, 76mm/62 rapid gun, 5-inch/38
caliber gun, anti-ship missile, and anti-aircraft missile on
the ships. First, the fire forbidden zones and the blast areas
of deck and bulkhead would be considered according to the weapon
performance and equipment layout. Next, the pressure field and
temperature field in the blast areas can be calculated with
experience formulas and the response of structural decks and
bulkheads under missile/gun blast effects can be obtained.
As a result, the protective ability against the blast of the
platform can be evaluated, and these results can be used as a
guidance for the equipment layout and structural safety.
