高雄港專用貨櫃碼頭裝卸機具作業時間之研究

The objective of this paper is to explore the handling time of dedicated container terminal in Kaohsiung Harbor. Firstly, gentry crane/straddle carrier direct system and gentry crane/transtainer system are examined in this study. Moreover, handling and idle time of shore side and container yard are analyzed respectively. In addition to the container terminal operators provide the information of handling time in this research, data collection is conducted based on an empirical investigation. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) is used in order to identify the impact of different cargo and vessel size on shore side operation. The results found:
(1) the handling time per teu of deck cargo is different significantly from hold cargo.
(2) the handling time per teu of large container ships (over 30,000 grt) are significantly greater than small container ships (under 30,000 grt).
(3) the major factors of idle time in shore operation are result from hook waiting and crane downtime.
(4) the handling time of straddle carrier system is shorter than transtainer system in yard operation.
In addition, this research indicates that the same transtainer systems in the various terminals have different operational performance due to the different managerial skill. Nevertheless, this study is limited to examine the handling time based on straddle carrier system and transtainer system. The land utilization and labor productiveness of container terminals could be considered for future research.
