海泡石複合材料之磨耗性質研究

The easy absorption of asbestos for human lungs and the close connection to lung cancers has lead to the ban for the use and import of asbestos all over the world. As a key component in brake material, the finding for the replacement of asbestos is very important for health and environmental protection. Sepiolite, a mineral whose structure is similar to asbestos, has been the popular candidate to replace asbestos. Previous researches can be found in the literature related to brake materials.
This thesis investigated the wear properties of a composite material whose composition of sepiolite is varied. The composite is made of sepiolite as the matrix and the wear-resistance material, rubber, kevlar fiber and Barium Sulfate as the reinforced material and they were glued with thermosetting resins. The primary goal of this thesis is to find correlation between wear property and the composition of sepiolite. We also replace the wear resistance material with MgSiO3 and investigate the wear property.
The results indicate that as the composition of sepiolite increases, the friction coefficient will decrease as caused by the thermal-breakdown and the wear rate will increase accordingly. The 10wt% composition of sepiolite will
lead to the stable friction coefficient and smallest wear rate. The addition of MgSiO3 will reduce the degradation of friction coefficient at high temperature at the expense of wear rate increase.
