碩士 / 國立中央大學 / 地球物理研究所 / 87 / The geoelectrical environment in area between Pachang-chi and Tsengwen-chi, northwestern Tainan is studies in this research by using direct current (DC) resistivity method with Schlumberger arrays. Based on subsurface electrical characteristics, changes of depositional environment and ground water distribution can be figured out.
The subsurface electrical distribution indicates that the study area can be grouped into three types of depositional environment; in the eastern side, it is shown a terrestrial facies, in the northwestern side, it is a sea facies, and the southwestern side is a transition zone between those two facies. In addition, the central part of study area has a high resistivity zone at a depth less than 30 meters.
Comparison were made between the land use in the mouth of Tsengwen river and amount of pumping water, it seems that the heavy pumping of fresh groundwater zones are located in the high resistivity zones. In other word, major aquifers are located in the area with an average resistivity sounding results may be an indicator of groundwater distribution, it can provide an economic and rapid way to evaluate the potential aquifers in an area lacking available well information.
