To compete efficiently and successfully in the international market, Taiwanese business needs to enhance their competitive advantage. Investing in other countries and improving HRM (human resource management) are two of the methods to achieve this goal. This research is to understand the relationship between Eclectic Paradigm, a theory explaining the motive of international investment, and HRM.
Research results indicate that:
1. There is a significant difference between business size in the motive of business investment. Large corporations invest for international market, while SME (small and medium enterprise) invest for cheaper production costs.
2. There is no significant difference between entry model and HRM in foreign subsidiary.
3. Ownership advantage has positive effects on appraisal and recruitment in SME.
4. Internalization advantage has positive effect on motivation and recruitment in large companies and also on training in SME.
5. Location advantage only has positive effect on training in SME.
6. HRM would influence the performance of subsidiary. In this research, recruitment and training have positive effect on the quality of product or service.
