碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 海洋資源學系 / 87 / Nodavirus infection causes seriously economic loss in cultured Epinephelus sp. in Taiwan. In this study, the quantitative determination of virus had been established using EtBr staining method. The limit of this method was 0.0096 U/ml. In field surveys, fry died within 3 days after the virus infection was detected. Both direct maternal infection and indirect infection from water and equipments had been observed. Washing eggs with ozone-treated water could prevent virus infection. In the challenge of high and low potency of virus, the results suggested Co+2 and Zn+2 could decay virus infection whereas Cu+2 enhanced virus infection. The results also showed that salt concentration in the pond water could not affect the virus infection rate.
