The Design and Establishment of Seabed Anchored Ambient Noise Measurement System / 海床錨碇環境噪音量測系統之設計與建立

碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 海下技術研究所 / 87 / Ambient noise is ocean background noise, which is constituted with many complex noise sources such as sea states, organisms, boats, and etc. The variation of ambient noise depends on time, weather, region, and depth of the ocean. Ambient noise not only causes the limitation of underwater instruments, but also restricts the application of sonar system very much. Therefore, in order to improve the ability of detecting target signal, the investigation of ambient noise becomes a very important issue.
For studying the ambient noise of Hsitzu Bay near Kaohsiung harbor, a measurement and analysis system which could sustain long-term measurement and operation was designed and built. After researchers consider the requirement of the study, and the conditation of deploying site, the sea bed mooring system with the characteristics of long-term operation and low self-noise was chosen. In the process for design, an overall evaluation was first considered, which includes capabilities, safety, and cost of the system. The design of receiver, cable, electric wire, preamplifier, waterproof connector, protection hood, and on-land construction were followed by the same principles. After the system was designed, it was assembled and placed in the working boat according to the planned procedure on 15th of May,1999. On 16th of May, 1999, the sea bed mooring system was successfully deployed in Hsitzu Bay, and it consisted of two hydrophones, preamplifiers, protection hoods, waterproof connectors, electric wires, a video recorder, a speaker, PULSE multi-analyzer system, and a personal computer. The total length of the system is 1,000 m, but the portion deployed under the sea is only 700 m, and the depth of deployed site is 7 m. After successfully deploying the sea bed mooring system, boat and ambient noises were tested at once, and the results were satisfied.
