A STUDY OF THE IMPACT OF ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF ABORIGINAL SETTLEMENT / 開闢運輸道路影響原住民部落發展之研究----以新竹縣尖石鄉司馬庫斯為例

碩士 / 國立臺灣大學 / 地理學研究所 / 87 / Aboriginal settlement development is conditioned by resources, transportation, culture, environment, society, and economy. Uneven development caused by the development of capitalism makes the aboriginal settlement being social-economically marginal. From the viewpoint of development of marginal regions, road construction connecting central and peripheral regions makes uneven development in much worse way.
This research stands on the basis of human ecology. The data collected include secondhand data of the domiciliary data and cadasterand, and then the methods of in-depth interviews and observation are also taken.
After the construction of roads, the residents of smangus can grow cash crops to increase income and make the quality of life better. On the other hand, it also causes the loss of soil, water pollution. The change makes the settlement from the same consanguin belief in the past transforming to several heirarchical subgroups.
