碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 造船及船舶機械工程學系 / 88 / This project develop a nonlinear mathematical model to investigate the behavior of surf-riding and broaching-to of a vessel in severe following seas. Based on the dynamics of six-degree-of-freedom rigid body motion , the equations of motion of the vessel are derived, and the motion responses are predicted using Runge-Kutta''s method. An automatic control system is incorporated in the analysis so that the vessel can persist in her heading direction. Simulation is carried out for a trawler, and the critical initial surge velocity and the critical initial heading angle occurring surf-riding and broaching-to can be predicted for different sea conditions. Some of the results of the simulation are compared with those of some published papers, and the agreement is
fairly good.
