control system, whose function it is to supervise all normal ballasting operations,
the left double quote Balder right double quote class of vessels have been equipped
with a patented computer controlled Dynamic Ballasting System
When in use during crane operation, this system is designed to maintain the heel and trim
angles of the vessel within 1 degree . The essential parts of the Dynamic Ballasting System of
the left double quote Balder right double quote are the specially built ballast water tanks
located below each of the two cranes. The system is designed in such a way that deballasting
is accomplished by means of gravity discharge from tanks located in the upper deck structure,
whereas ballasting of lower tanks below the surface of the sea is done by flooding.
The article discusses overall system design, the control system, measured value processing,
and ballast water control.
