碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 造船及船舶機械工程學系 / 88 / To allow a successful rescue operation in shipwreck (grounding or collision), ship hulls must retain a sufficient level of residual strength. To avoid sinking and capsizing during the rescue operation, one must predict residual strength and loads of the damaged ship precisely and quickly to avoid further damage. This study explores the residual strength and probability of failure for a 260 kiloton single hull tanker by assuming that it is under grounding and collision respectively. In this investigation, the reliability index and the residual strength index are used as safety indices for decision making process, which is related to rescue operation for a damaged ship.
