A Study of Submarine Design Systems and Associated Breakthrough Technologies / 潛艦設計系統與其關鍵性技術之探討

碩士 / 國防大學中正理工學院 / 造船工程研究所 / 89 / Abstract
Because Taiwan is an island, safety of the territorial sea is a critical factor of survival of nation. In order to defend territorial sea, upgrade conventional industries, develop marine resources and establish defense capability of our own, it is very important that integrate nation’s resources to develop design approaches, to establish critical technologies and to construct a fabrication process of the “underwater vehicle”─submarine. In the future, it is predictable that these works will be effective in development and application of submarines in Taiwan.
This study accomplishes many works that present briefly in the following:
First, a number of past investigations for the designs, analysis, fabrications and tests of submarines are collected widely and classified systematically. Second, the history of submarines is reviewed and the critical technologies of design for submarines are described. Third, dividing a submarine into the two major systems─platform and combat system according to mission characteristics, and classifying into eight subsystems in detail according to functions. These subsystems are hull structure system, propulsion plant system, diving and stability system, life support system, rescue and salvage system, navigation and communication system, surveillance and warning system, and weapon system. This study also presents the design approaches, describes the critical technologies, constructs a fabrication process and shows merits of the design alternatives of each subsystem respectively. In additional, the standard for development of a submarine is sorted by consulting the structure of “General Specifications for Ship of United State Navy, G.S.”. Finally, in order to integrate the theory and experience for fabrications of submarines and evaluate the development capabilities in Taiwan, a number of suggestions of the authorities, specialists, technicians, manufacturer and users of submarines are collected and integrated systematically.
In this study, the completed works can be the database of developing each sub-system of a submarine. And, they also will be the references for developing the new submarine system and maintaining the original system in the future.
