碩士 / 長榮管理學院 / 經營管理研究所 / 89 / Many industrial countries have attached importance to ISO-9000 system and adopted it as their national standard since it was initiated in March 1987. The system in which most countries operated is similar to ISO-9000, or even it has the same content as ISO-9000. The European Community took quality management and quality insurance in ISO-9000 system as their standard rule and numbered EM29000 in October 1987. Therefore, it is essential to get ISO-9000 certification for enterprises toward internationalization.
Related literature about yacht industry as well as ISO-9000 standard have collected and discussed in this study. The dimensions and variables effecting the key success factors (KSF) of ISO-9000 operation were analyzed. After consulting with experts for advising, the variables and dimensions were modified. Nine yacht firms which have passed the ISO-9000 certification and registered in “Taiwan Yacht Industry Association” were surveyed for this research. The nine KSF(s) are as following : (1)design and purchasing management (2)relationship of certification (3)management of quality planning (4)leadership of manager (5)management of documents (6)quality of consultants (7)external supports (8)communication and training (9)quality of consulting institutions.
ISO-9000 system was introduced in Taiwan Yacht Industry in 1995 and the first firm passed the certification in 1997. Until March 2001, the percentage of yacht firms which passed ISO-9000 certification is lower than 18%. Most of the yacht firms which passed ISO-9000 certification were guided by the consulting company for their verifying process. The ISO-9000 system which yacht firms have passed include ISO-9001 and ISO-9002, without ISO-9003.
About the execution results and significance level of ISO-9000, there is no difference based on different organization scale. However, there is 18% difference in the capital input, human resource and physical resource between large and medium/small yacht firms.
The willingness of involvement in ISO-9000 system operation is different based on the different education level. However, the employees are gradually willing to involve in ISO-9000 system operation because of more understanding and identification for ISO-9000 system.
In addition, all employees have strong willing to involve in ISO-9000 system operation regardless the years of their working experience.
As for the factors of yacht firms to select consultants and institutions, professional competence, performance of service and consulting, and the relationship with consulting institutions are the important factors for choosing consideration.
