碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 水利及海洋工程學系 / 89 / There was a strong earthquake happening on the Chi-Chi area of Taiwan with 7.3 degrees at AM 1:47 on September 21,1999. Suddenly, it caused a lot of damages and shocked over the world. This strong earthquake caused about 2300 people died and destroyed 50000 buildings. It also made a loss of one hundred billion dollars in financial. This study accessed the active fault distributions in the sea area of southwest Taiwan to predict activity of faults and fit with historical records. It also makes use of “Mathematica” to calculate the earthquake influence on pile and seawall. Maybe it can provide reference for design and construction to the authorities.
