碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 交通管理學系 / 89 / This research seeks to evaluate market segmentation and use intention of electronic commerce in liner shipping. Factor analysis and cluster analysis were used to classify shippers into four groups. These four groups were identified as: less preference firms, company and transaction information oriented firms, operation and transaction information oriented firms, as well as multi-service oriented firms. In addition, a structural equation modeling (SEM) was conducted to test the effects of legal factor, technical factor, safety factor, cost factor and service factor on the level of enquiry intention and transaction intention. The results indicated that the degree of technical factor was negatively related to the level of enquiry intention and transaction intention. Moreover, cost factor and service factor were positively related to the level of transaction intention and enquiry intention respectively. However, the impact of cost factor, safety factor and legal factor on transaction intention was not supported in this study. The research provides a general framework for carriers to evaluate their strategies in developing electronic commerce. Some implications for theory and practice are briefly discussed.
