The phylogeographic relationships among population of Onychostoma alticorpus in Taiwan / 高身白甲魚(Onychostomaalticorpus)族群間親緣地理學之研究

碩士 / 國立清華大學 / 生命科學系 / 89 / Onychostoma alticorpus(Oshima, 1920)is an endemic species in Taiwan, which distributes in Kaoping River, Hsiukuluan River, and Peinan River, mainly the south and east of Taiwan. This study also analyzes two other species. Onychostoma sima(Sauvage et Dabry, 1874), distributes in Mainland China, which shares many morphological similar characters with Onychostoma alticorpus. Another taxonomic closed species, Onychostoma barbatulus(Pellegrin, 1908), distributes in Taiwan and Mainland China. Onychostoma alticorpus have its distinct distribution, but the former researches always limit to the ecological study.
This study uses mitochondrial control region sequence, and tries to resolve the population genetic structure of Onychostoma alticorpus between different drainage, and reconstruct the relationships with the similar species, Onychostoma sina and Onychostoma barbatulus.
The result reveals that there is only one site deletion and one site substitution in the sequence between the south and the east population, and the largest genetic distance within the species is 0.5%. The genetic distance between Onychostoma alticorpus and Scaphesthes barbatulus is 15.7%, and the genetic distance between Onychostoma alticorpus and Onychostoma sina is 5.5%. Calculating with the molecular clock, this study address that Onychostoma alticorphs dispersed to Taiwan bypass the landbridge formed in the recent glacial period. Because of the increasing temperature between two glacial periods, the sea level change and separate Taiwan and Mainland China. Then Onychostoma alticorpus evolved to the endemic species in Taiwan during this period because of the vicariance event. According to the genetic distance relationship between the species of Onychostoma in Taiwan and Mainland China, the traditional classification is inappropriate and the two subgenus should be combined as one genus.
