碩士 / 國立海洋大學 / 河海工程學系碩士在職專班 / 89 / This paper investigates the safety inspection method of the seawall and establishes an evaluation model for the safety of the seawall. The seawall at the National Ocean University (NOU) is adopted as the case study to conduct the damage investigation and safety evaluation. It is expected that the maintenance management system could be established to minimize the potential damage as well as the maintenance & rehabilitation cost of the seawall.
The coastal structures generally composed of different types of structure components, so a systematic approach should be the better choice for the inspection work of the coastal structures. The inspection system could be divided into the following three stages.
1. Periodical Inspection: An overall visual inspection by experienced engineer should be carried out every year to discover the problems and immediate remedy measures should be taken to prevent further damage.
2. Damage Inspection: The inspection work should be conducted right after the occurrence of severe earthquake, typhoon, and unusual weather or sea conditions. Visual inspection with optional instruct ment check will be the main method for the inspection work.
3. Special Inspection: In the case that further investigation is deem necessary to identify the cause of damage detected by the above inspections.
The establishment of the LPDRI safety evaluation model is aimed to quantify the degree of damage for further evaluation. L represents Location, P represents Problem, D represents degree of Damage, R represents Range and I indicates Instancy. All the indices have values corresponding to their situations, after the simple summation or calculation of the values of the indices; the sum will be a good value to represent the damage condition of the seawall.
