碩士 / 國立臺北大學 / 企業管理學系 / 89 / The importance of Multinational National Corporations (MNCs) has increased due to globalization. Parent companies of MNCs, besides suffering from the double pressure of local needs and overall effectiveness, are facing challenges on how to manage the inter-reaction and the inter-dependence of different markets. In this research, we study four different public-held companies in the information or electronics industry that have invested in Europe or America for more than five years.
1.Exploring factors affecting organization structural design and managerial control system during the process of globalization.
2.Understanding the present condition of overseas subsidiaries’ organization structural design and managerial control system during the process of globalization through interviews of Taiwan enterprises on pursuing international cooperation among foreign subsidiaries.
3.Identifying the relationship between factors and practices of globalization of local enterprises’ foreign subsidiaries’ structure, organization and managerial control system.
4.Studying conclusions and results to recommend on structural and organizational design and establishing managerial control system, while making multinational investment.
This research is exploring by nature. Researches on many variables are conducted through structural questionnaires. After considering the outcome of such research is not in depth, the author has adopted the method of case study to explore the foreign subsidiaries in progress to draw final conclusions and recommendations.
The result of the research has shown that the foreign investment motive of parent companies has no substantial influences on subsidiaries’ managerial control system. No matter what the investment motive is, Taiwan parent companies are most likely to control both behavior and productivity. In addition, design of structure and organization is affected by the importance of the subsidiary, parent company’s holding and the scale of companies. This study also uncovers that structure and organization do relate to managerial control system. The arrangement of 50-50 holding has led to weak management and difficulty in managerial control system.
