碩士 / 國立臺灣大學 / 造船及海洋工程學研究所 / 89 / The purpose of this paper is to develop a potential based panel method for determining the steady potential flow about two-dimensional hydrofoil under free surface. The method uses constant-strength doublets density distribution over the body surface and thereby Dirichlet type boundary condition is used instead of Neumann type condition. On the undisturbed free surface sources density used to meet the free surface and free surface condition is linearized in terms of double-model approach and is discretized by a one-side, upstream, four-point finite difference operator. After solving the doublets on the foil and sources on the free surface, the numerical results of pressure, lift and drag coefficients and also wave profiles can then be calculated of Froude number and depth of submergence to demonstrate the influence of free surface effects on performance of the hydrofoil. Furthermore, present developed method has verified by comparing with existing experimental and calculated data results by others. The comparison results show a good agreement with those present in another investigation.
