碩士 / 國立臺灣大學 / 流行病學研究所 / 89 / Use of variance components method for mapping quantitative trait loci (QTL) in humans is a subject of great current interest. Fulker et al.(1999) proposed a method by the use of maximum likelihood and of a common biometrical model for the simultaneous analysis of means and covariance matrices. In the covariance matrices, the correlation between two sibs is modeled by genes IBD. In this thesis, we extend their method to modeling of the sib-pair correlation shared by common environments. We use logistic regression to model the differences of covariance among different sib-pairs due to covariates(e.g., age, sex, etc.). The estimation procedures are derived here.
