Heat Transfer and Flow Friction Characteristics of Herringbone Wavy Fin-and-Tube Heat Exchangers / 波浪狀鰭片之熱流特性分析

碩士 / 元智大學 / 機械工程研究所 / 89 / In the present study, sixteen herringbone wavy fin-and-tube heat exchangers were tested. For type Ⅰ exchangers ( , ), the effect of tube row and fin spacing on the air-side performance is not significant; while the effect is pronounced at high Reynolds number. However, the effect of tube row and fin spacing on the air-side performance is very important for type Ⅱ heat exchangers ( , ). In these two types of heat exchangers, the maximum phenomenon was found at low Reynolds number, especially for heat exchangers with larger number of tube rows and smaller fin spacing.
Besides, this study also presents an empirical correlation describing the air-side performance of herringbone wavy fin pattern. A total of 61 samples containing approximately 570 data points are used in the regression analysis and try-and-error method. The proposed heat transfer correlation can describe 91.3% of the test data within ±15% with a mean deviation of 6.98% while the proposed friction correlation can describe 84.6% of the database within ±15% with a mean deviation of 8.82%.
