A Study on Taiwan Computer Industry''s Global Logistical Operation and Related issues / 我國資訊產業全球運籌之作業與相關問題之研究

碩士 / 銘傳大學 / 管理科學研究所 / 90 / Abstract
While worldwide brand computer companies change core ability to keep concentrating on the marketing side, the role of OEM/ODM companies becomes increasingly important. Depending on the technology basis and superior manpower to gain worldwide brand customers’ great favor, Taiwanese computer manufacturing factories now are on top of world.
The purpose of this research is to understand these factories’ global logistics models, and to investigate what problems are in their operations.
In this research, we visited five Taiwan manufacturing firms, one supplier, and one logistics service provider. We find that there are some problems existing and affecting the efficiency of the factories’ global logistics operations. These problems include the restriction in air traffic and navigation with some nearby countries, inconvenience in the transfer between sea and air transportation, import and export efficiency, multifarious procedures of electronic parts inspection, and the tax problem occurring when foreign suppliers want to set up a distribution center in Taiwan. Once these issues can be solved, these companies should be able to improve current operations to be much more efficient.
In this research, we obtain the results from the manufacturing companies’ operations, and these can be used as references for future research. We hope Taiwan can have a better logistics environment, with which our computer industry can have more advantages to compete with other foreign companies in the global market.
