Experimental Study on Crushing Behavior of Ship's Bow Structure / 船艏結構壓潰行為之實驗探討

碩士 / 國立臺灣大學 / 造船及海洋工程學研究所 / 90 / This thesis investigated the collision behaviors and evaluated the average crushing forces between the bow of the high-speed ships and other structures such as offshore structures during the voyage.
The static axial crushing tests of various cross-sectional structural elements including circular tubes, square tubes, T-shape and L-shape beams were first conducted. According to the experimental results, we can calculate the forces-indentation relations for these elements. Furthermore, the same crushing tests were performed on a series of bow models in order to study the influences of different materials and different allocations of stiffeners. The results not only helped to understand the crushing behaviors, but also provided data to further verify theoretical analyses.
In the theoretical analysis, Weirzbicki’s mean crushing force prediction formula was used for Aluminum alloy circular tubes, while N. Jone’s prediction formula was used for square ones. About the prediction of the crushing behaviors for bow structures, two types of formulas were considered.Amdahl’s formula and Yang and Caldwell’s formula divided the complex structures into L-shape, X-shape, and T-shape elements, and calculated the mean crushing forces by adding the absorbed energy. In comparison, Zhang’s formula was the function of the destroyed material volume, average thickness, and average width. Finally, using the simple calculation method and this method was further discussed in this thesis.
