Study on the Fuzzy Controller for a Fin Stabilizer System / 模糊控制應用於船舶穩定翼之研究

Especially the rolling mode has direct effect on seaworthiness, operation capability and personal comfort. In order to reduce the wave-induced rolling motion, fin stabilizers are best for evenly matching with the moment of force caused by waves. Subject of the study is to design stabilizing fin controllers to reduce the wave-induced rolling swing. .
In the study, a roll mathematical model and a model of fin hydraulic system has been built for a 1700 tons patrol vessel. We design a fuzzy controller according to the above mathematical models to test the controller by simulating operations in different conditions, like wave disturbances, noise and speed. Finally,we experience our controller in real 1700 tons patrol vessel to test the system’s robustness. No matter simulation or on-site experiment, the result shows that fuzzy controller is excellent in control performance.
