The Behavior of Dissolved Heavy Metal in the Small Estuarine Waters Flowing Into the Ocean in Northwestern Taiwan / 台灣西北部小河川溶解性重金屬流向海洋的特性

碩士 / 中國文化大學 / 應用化學研究所 / 90 / Abstract
In this study, 8-hydroxyquinoline(8-HQ) immobilized on silica gel has been used for preconcentration and purification of dissolved trace metals V、Co、Ni、Cd of riverine and estuarine waters prior to the determination by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry.
The concentrations of dissolved trace metals V、Co、Ni are higher in river waters, but Cd is higher in mid-estuary. All dissolved metals gradually decrease as the waters flow toward
the ocean.
The dissolved V、Co、Ni、Cd of the upper estuarine waters
in Northwestern Taiwan may be attributed from the input of industrial wastewater, domestic sewage and re-suspension of reducing sediment, The removal phenomena had been observed due to geochemical processes and adsorption by manganese oxyhydro- xide during the river water mixing with sea water. These may result in non-conservative behavior of additional process in the riverines and estuarines.
