碩士 / 淡江大學 / 建築學系 / 90 / The purpose of this study is to discussion what will historical place encounter with during the globalization and modern development and what will be the plans and strategies during such urban developments. In this study, Shanghai is the site for the design plan. The main points are the followings:
1. Shanghai plays the role of window on globalization and modernization to China. Among other major cities of the world, what will be the role of Shanghai in the development of urban space?
2. The Bond plays a special role for historical memory. How to revitalize the city and how to find the hidden values in the present urban structure and value system?
This study develops a plan named the Grand Shanghailand Project, a new urban platform project which combines a fun center, a shopping mall, and public places along the waterfront. In the design process and strategies, we on the excuse of six different strategies include learning from the airport, MRT station, Disneyland and restruction the historical scene; this project provides the needs of the Bond for touring the seasonal scene and holding various activities. The project is based on an idea called the new urban promenade space. The historical value of the Bond transforms the place to a new economic development, which maintains the sense of history and urban spaces for consuming and production.
The new urban space will not only buildings but also self-guided as well as programmed experiencing on architecture, scenery, spaces, voices, and education. This place creates a public space to fulfill the different needs of consuming groups and ages. Revitalizing and managing with economic and culture awareness, a specific historical place will become part of our daily life. The historical place will regain its vitality.
