A STUDY OF THE POSTPONED MANUFACTURING STRATEGY FOR GLOBAL LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM / 以後延製造策略建構全球運籌管理系統之研究

博士 / 淡江大學 / 管理科學學系 / 90 / The cores of global logistics management are quickly to response the change of market and customer needs, to lower the operating cost、to reduce inventory and risk, and to create the synthesis effects. Form the prior studies, the postponed manufacturing strategy has included the scale and scope economy and becomes as a competitive advantage to corporation.
For a global company the value-added activities in global logistics system are configuration and coordination decisions. The global logistics management system is to emphasize the time-based competition strategy, which is based on time-based logistics. The benefits of time-based logistics are utilized the postponed manufacturing strategy.
The findings of this research are as follows:
1. The postponed manufacturing strategy has integrated the characteristics of scale and scope economic principles.
2. From this research by adoption the decision of decouple point which Waller et al. (2000) has presented a generalization on the degree of postponed manufacturing; based on this reasoning this research has developed a theoretical model.
3. On the decision to choose the value added location, this research uses the OEM/ODM as a basis to develop an assembly site decision model.
4. From the case study of Taiwan’s PC industry, OEM/ODM manufacturers have integrated the module and postponed manufacturing to form a PC assembly supply chain. By using the decouple point to create a “virtual manufacturing alliance” on the dynamic network environments to link customers and suppliers as the strategic partners.
