碩士 / 國立中興大學 / 土木工程學系 / 91 / In this study, a series of 2D model tests were conducted to investigate the toe scours at sloping seawalls due to the breaking waves. A step-type of sloping seawall was also performed in this study to examine the reduction of the toe scours. The measurement of the experiments included the reflection coefficient of waves from the seawall, the velocity of down-rush flow at the toe and the scour profile. The experimental results indicated that the depth of toe scour would be larger, if the breaker on the seawall was a plunging type. It was also shown that the depth, the location and the area of the toe scours increased with both the surf similarity parameter and the intensity of the down-rush flow. When a step-type of sloping seawall was considered, the intensity of the down-rush flow at the toe was reduced; hence, the toe scour was diminished. It implies that a step-type of sloping seawall might be helpful to reduce the toe scours.
