A Preliminary Testing and Decision-Making Study on Applying GPS to Rail Transportation / GPS技術應用於軌道運輸之實測初探與決策探討

碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 交通管理學系碩博士班 / 91 / The research is designed to investigate the influence of GPS on rail transportation by ways of test and questionnaire respectively. The application of GSP to rail operation is able to upgrade the traffic control system to moving block and it also has advantages of adding rail capacity, increasing train services, reducing travel time, as well as decreasing the maintenance of signal and roadside equipments.
The test, in the research, is given in trains with GPS system from Tainan to Gang Shan. The Fu-Shin train and the motorcar are chosen to conduct the test. The Fu-Shin train is tested in a semi-open environment while the motorcar in a full- open environment. After the simple test, the Fu-Shin train can only accept 4 to 5 satellites but the motorcar, because of the full- open environment, enables to obtain 6 to 7 ones. Therefore, the motorcar has a better accuracy than the Fu-Shin train.
The two-stage questionnaire, on the other hand, is tend to investigate the crucial influences involved. The possible factors are initially established by an extensive bibliography along with intensive interviews with professionals. In addition, Fuzzy Dephi Method is used to decide the evaluating criteria, which were made a pairwise comparison then. These criteria aim to set a criteria priority through the Analytic Hierarchy Process Method. After the research, the scholars and professionals concur in supporting the safety is the number-one priority. The acceptability of signal in high speed, the higher accident prevention, the higher rail capacity and the cost of system maintenance are the criteria used in all aspects.
