碩士 / 國立高雄師範大學 / 教育學系 / 91 / This main purpose of thesis is to talk about the marine high school’s history, functions, characteristic. Further, to understand its current problems and developing directions.
First, according to the literature review the researcher talks about the history of marine high school and intends to understand the inner, outer factors that lead the school to have some problems. The researcher designs survey questions, does survey, summarizes the survey results and summits conclusions and suggestions. The conclusions can be the important reference for the educational administrations, schools, or further researches.

This thesis is based on analyzing literature review and collecting survey data .The research method is “ marine high school’s problems and development questionnaires “. The group of people for survey aim at administers and teachers that include one private and six public marine high schools in Taiwan area. The total 178 returning surveys, the 89.2% of 195 surveys are useable. The statistic method adopts arithmetic mean, frequency distribution, percentage, t-test and analysis of variance.
Based on the results of the research, the following are the conclusions of the research:
1. The items of problems and direction of development in questionnaire are highly approved by the survey groups. However, the teachers who are from different educational background have different opinions in some questions.
2. The marine high school did have an insight on its problems and developing directions. They have done something in advance in teaching and administration.
3. Sex, ages of teaching in marine high school, administrated or not, have nothing to do with the viewpoint of problems.
4. There is some difference about marine school’s characteristics, marine professional affairs between teachers who were graduated from Ocean College.
5. Recruit students is the same problem in administration.
6. The graduated students have little will to work on ship.
7. Set up public funds system to navigation and fishery department is good for marine high school’s development.
8. To develop ocean recreation curriculums and to shape ocean culture for teaching and practice.
9. The marine high school is seriously affected by the outside factors.
10. Marine high schools should transform into Marine Academies or Marine County Colleges in the future.
11. It is hard to run a private marine high school.
Based on the conclusions of this research, the following are the few suggestions:
1. The suggestions to the educational administrations:
a. The administrations should take care the developing of the marine high school’s education.
b. Reinforce spreading concept of ocean culture, national sea power and fishery power.
c. Expand the expense of marine high school to help teaching and practicing.
d. Set up public fund system for navigation and fishery department students.
e. It had better to promote Marine high schools to Marine Academies or Marine county colleges in the future.
f. To change the courses to meet with the STCW’s standards.
g. Reinforce private marine high school’s subsidy.
2. The suggestions to the marine high schools:
a. To establish the characteristics in order to show the efforts of the school.
b. Reinforce the school to communalize and improve the image of school.
c. Reinforce to improve the recruit students strategy
d. Reinforce the cooperation with the interpretation in order to get working chances.
e. Reinforce the students’ career guidance.
f. To reinforce the various propagandizing activities of the marine high school.
