A Survey Study on the Background of Admission, Aspiration of Further Study and Aspiration of Employment of Vocational Marine and Fisheries High School Students / 高職海事類科學生入學背景與升學就業意願之調查研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣師範大學 / 工業教育研究所 / 91 / The main purpose of this study is to survey the background of admission, aspiration of further study and aspiration of employment of vocational marine and fisheries high school students; and suggest the strategy of recruitment for vocational marine and fisheries high school. This also may be a reference to recruit new students, to guide students for further study or employment.
The study adopted delineation study and encompassed by survey. First of all, a literature analysis was conducted to form the necessary theoretical basis for data collection, and then to design the “questionnaires on the background of admission, aspiration of further study and aspiration of employment of vocational marine and fisheries high school students”. After pretests and well revision by professional expects, the questionnaires were used as survey tools.
The questionnaires were handed out in April 2002. In each class of vocational marine and fisheries high school in Taiwan, ten random sample students were chosen. The total copies of questionnaires were 1840, and the effective responses were 1751, with a return rate of 95.16 percent. After statistics analyses of the collected data, it leaded us to the following main conclusions:
1. Background of admission:
Only “interest for one’s own department” was most approved by students in “the factors of individual”.
2. Aspiration of further study and aspiration of employment:
In the factors of individual, the more important items are: high expectancy for oneself, one’s own interest and academic record; in the factors of family, “expectancy for family” was most approved by students; and in the factors of society, the more important five items are: (1) the importance of educational background, (2) everybody getting further study, (3) marine and fisheries college as the target of further study, (4) encouragement from school teachers, and (5) influences of classmates.
3. Aspiration of employment
Only “the burden on family’s bread and butter” was most approved by students.
At the end of this study, three domain suggestions are proposed according to the study discovery, conclusion, and gain, and the suggestions were expected to be helpful for education of vocational marine and fisheries high school.
