Therefore, the people’s demand for leisure activities rises greatly than ever. In addition to the implementation of two days off weekly, people have more leisure time and higher consumption level. However, Taiwan is a populous tiny island and there are not enough leisure areas and facilities for the greater and greater leisure demand. That’s why now is the great time to develop recreational fisheries in Taiwan. Tourist seafood market plays a very important role in Taiwan recreational fisheries. We can find form the opening tourist seafood markets around Taiwan that those markets can actually create huge commercial profits. Even so, there are still lots of tourist seafood markets closing out due to the inappropriate operations. But many fisher associations still want to run tourist seafood markets. Therefore, it is important to know how the opening tourist seafood markets operate now.
Customer orientation has already replaced other orientations in present markets. Producers should spare no efforts to promote qualities so that the tourist seafood markets can be sustainable managed. However, most studies about tourist seafood markets were all centered on fisher associations, the management systems and consumer behavior. They didn’t look into the quality of tourist seafood markets. Moreover, there are quite a few researches investigating the qualities of all kinds of industries, but there is none about tourist seafood markets. On account of the reasons above, this study apply QFD which consider both importance and satisfaction of consumers to find out how to manage a tourist seafood market can satisfy consumers, avoid improper investment and increase the operating efficiency.
QFD is applied in this study to improve the service quality of tourist seafood market. The results show that the items should be particularly improved and emphasized are “cleanliness”, “ quality of escape canal of sidewalk”,” rationality of price” etc.. According to these results, we can turn the indistinct quality demand into the specific activities. And the manager can just supervise a few important activities to assure the consumers’ quality demands are understood and satisfied. At present, there is still no effective method to promote the tourists’ satisfaction and service quality in Taiwan. This study provides the priority of the improvements of tourist seafood market to the managers. And hopefully, these suggestions can contribute to raise the tourists’ satisfaction and competitiveness of tourist seafood market.
